She was such an amazing, beautiful person! Every time she would come in to give me a chemical peel, she would smile at me and she was so positive. I will miss her terribly.

My sincerest apologies from the depth of my heart. She will be missed.

Val was a great person, her family was the most important in her life! She was a great mother, wife, and grandma. She WILL be watching over her boys (husband, sons, and two grandson's and their families)....

She has given so much to her family, and to the community. She will be dearly missed!

From the moment I became part of the Prisbrey family, Val was there to welcome me in. I have never felt out of place or un-loved when Val was in the room. She had an amazing way of making everyone feel comfortable and important. Each time we would come into town and stop by she would stop whatever it was she was doing and go out back to visit.

I have always admired the beautiful person she is! Between laying down the law for her boys, the many of them, (sons, grandsons, husband, brothers, fathers, and friends) she never appeared to be the little person she was.

We will miss her personality and love greatly! And we look forward to when our family will see her again.

We love you guys!

We are so sorry to hear of this horrible accident and for the loss of Val. It puts a pit in the bottom of your stomach knowing that she is gone. We first met Val almost 11 years ago when Mark was in the bishopric in our student ward, and then he was our home teacher after we got married and lived just down the street from them. She threw a baby shower for me and was such a great person. We enjoyed visiting Val and Mark from time to time after we moved. She loved her family so much and was very proud of her boys. Our hearts go out to Mark and her boys and grandchildren. Our prayers are with you at this time and know that she lived a good life.

Words don't begin to comfort...
Val was the matriarch of unconditional love, heart felt laughter and pure love of Christ. And she was the beauty that graced our May/June cover. What a gift it is to have that memory and time with her!

We're thinking about you Mark and SO glad we have photos of the two of you together from Val's photo shoot.

We will honor Val the entire week, posting our favorite shots of her on my blog at:

May you feel the love of the Savior and take comfort in knowing that families are together forever!

Imlays,

Val was one of my favorite ladies. Some of my fondest memories involve her at Girls Camp. "Batman" (our nickname for her) was always up for anything we wanted to do, and she made everything fun. She was a great example to all of us. I'll miss catching up with her. Just know that we are praying for all of you, and that you WILL see her again. - Jentrie Matheson

Dear Families,
I was deeply saddened by your losses. As I sit by the computer reading about the accident, my 10 year old son, David said "We know how that feels". We, too, lost someone in an automobile accident in October of last year. My heart goes out to you and you are all in our prayers. I did not directly know any of your loved ones, but I know the niece and cousin of two of them. I can promise you that several things will happen. You will feel the Love and Comfort of Our Heavenly Father and Savior during this time period. They will not forsake you. Please cling to that fact and know that They and your loved ones are near. Families ARE forever and you will see them again and they are waiting for you on the other side. Your heart will break at times, but your hearts will also soar. Sweet memories will crowd your mind and you will be comforted. Your community and state are praying for you and this will also strengthen you when the times are tough. Asking why does not help much, but being still does. Know that you all are in many people's prayers and hearts and you are not alone. May Father's richest blessings be poured out upon you during this time and in the future while you carry on.
With love and understanding,

My thoughts and prayers are with Val's family and friends at this time of sorrow.
I remember Val's great smile and outstanding personality. She was in a class I taught several years ago...she never gave up....always tried her very best and she became a friend to all she met. I always respected her for her attitude and gentle spirit...with just enough spunk! Each time I would see her around town, it was like our conversation would picked up from where it left off..even though a year or two had passed.

I will miss you Val.

Val is someone who made many great impressions on everyone that knew her, I will never forget the time I spent working with her and traveling with her at SwSC and Red Canyon. I will never forget how she made us laugh... she was always so cold, and we would just laugh at her when she would come to work ALL bundled up to stay warm... We all loved her and will miss her terribly. My heart goes out to the Imlay Family, She is a choice spirit... I feel comfort in knowing that Families are forevre and that we WILL see her again someday... with love Robyn and MItch Gubler

Dear Mark and Family,
As I read through the comments I noticed so many things that I wanted to say that everyone has already said so many times, especially how Val was our "work mom." Literally from the second I started working at Dr. Ellsworth's office, Val took me under her wing. I considered her much more than a co-worker and love her very much. I will miss seeing her smile and hearing her happy laugh but am assured in the knowledge that we will be with her and the other's affected by this terrible accident again.
Much Love and deepest condolances,

Jay and Georgia Prisbey had a family of boys; LoRaine & Lila Chamberlain had a family of girls. I have many wonderful childhood memories of time spent growing up in Cedar City with the Prisbey's. When Valerie came along she had the protection (and playful torment) of her borthers. I know that Val's passing will leave a very big hole in the lives of the Prisbey family, and that she will be terribly missed by all. May the lord keep and comfort you in your time of need. Val came to Page with Dr Ellsworth and Dave each month. I am blessed to have met her and honored to have been able to get to know her a bit. I always thought, Wow! What a chic, classy lady! And so so sweet. Val was always so helpful, funny and relaxed, even on the most frantic of days. She was always so helpful and gracious. I remember after they had been coming a couple of months, I saw that Val kind of acted like the "mom" of the crew, though she looked like she could be one of the "kids!" Val will be missed and remembered. Her family is in my prayers. Stephanie Sotelo, Page Hospital Medical Arts Center

Please accept our deepest sympathy. We know Valerie will be missed beyond comprehension by all those who loved her. To Mark and Kadin, it was a pleasure to meet you at your mom's house last month. I am sure Valerie will continue to watch over her boys from Heaven above. While we never met Val, I am sure she was one in a million. To Jane, my father Merrill Harrison's dear neighbor and friend, who thought so much of you and Daryl, may Heavenly Father comfort you and hold you in His hands, as He has us, with the passing of my father last year. Call upon Him frequently and He will carry you. May your whole family be comforted and blessed in your time of great need. Please know of our love and deep sympathy. You are in our thoughts and prayers.

What a beautiful woman. She even let me tease her about being a "Covergirl" the last time I saw her. Mark,

When I moved down the street from you back in 2001, I didn't know anyone in the ward and felt out of place. You and Val invited us out to dinner, took an interest in us, and were friendly. You helped us feel that we fit in. (I felt a special kinship to you because we were the two non-conformists in the ward who dared not to wear white shirts every Sunday!)

Later, when the furnace in our home stopped working, we called Val for help, and she sent you down with space heaters, and you fixed the furnace for us.

When I had to go to a dermatologist to be screen for skin cancer, I was so relieved to find that Val was my nurse. She and Dr. Ellsworth set me at ease and made me feel comfortable enough to tell them about other medical problems that they then resolved.

I had to move last year, but I am so grateful to have known you and Val, and your boys (Kadin is a great plumber and worker; I know you are proud of him, too).

I share your grief, but I also know that Val is in the loving embrace of our Heavenly Father even as I write these words that I hope will speak to your heart. Jesus said, "I am the resurrection and the life. He that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live" (John 11:25). Val was one of the most Christlike people I have ever known, and in my heart, I know she lives. I know that she received a hero's welcome upon her return home, accompanied by the words we all most want to hear at that critical hour: "Well done, thou good and faithful servant."

May the Lord be with you and your sons, today and always. You're in my heart and prayers.

I did not have the oppurtunity to meet Valerie. I probably would not have the chance to hear so many wonderful things about Valerie had I not met her niece Diamond Fullmer at Apollo College. I was in shock when Diamond came back from her weekend visit home to tell me about the horrific accident her Aunt Val was in. She also told me great stories of their time together, how anytime her Aunt Val got new skin products in she would call Diamond up to try them out on her and how she has a great family resemblence to her Aunt. I send my thoughts to your family in your tragic moment.

I grew up in the old Fourth Ward with Valerie and her brothers. Val was always full of life and lived it to it's fullest. She was beautiful, both inside and out and will truly be missed. My last memory of Val was at the parade on July 24th. We were in front of her family during the parade route. Val was marching with her ward "Kazoo" band. After some teasing from her family, she pointed and yelled, "That's my family"! It was apparent to all who were there that she loved her family very much and they loved her and were proud of her. She was a blessing to all who knew and loved her.

Remembering Val

Val, Pam, and I were exercise buddies a few years ago. I understand that Val and Pam had taught this aerobics class for years before I moved to Cedar City and joined as a student. We had a great time exercising together in the Cultural Hall of the church to music such as” Secret Agent, Man” and other favorites. While we were resting, we talked about our lives and our families. Val often spoke lovingly of her husband, sons, and grandchildren. She talked about her sons’ successes and trials. She told us that she was pleased to be able to watch her oldest grandchild while her son worked.

Then, slowly, we became too busy with our jobs to exercise together regularly. We talked mostly on the phone when she was working at the dermatology office, which she greatly loved. She would always greet me warmly and ask about my family. She was a caring and talented woman with an out-going personality who saw the best in others. We are so sorry to have lost her. She will be greatly missed.
